Company introduction

For the Ministry of Health, we have created a scalable portal for recording detailed medical data of patients about their hospitalization and vascular procedures performed. The system is used by over 200 medical centers in Poland, while the portal is run by the Independent Public Clinical Hospital No. 2 PUM in Szczecin. The organization that will manage the created register ensures the highest standards of health care through its departments: clinical oncology and cardiac rehabilitation of the cardiac surgery clinic.

Project description

Project description

The system we have developed in this project is called KRON (National Register of Vascular Operations). The key task of the system is the registration of vascular operations of medical units and the management of patient data in the National Register of Vascular Operations.

Our tasks in the project:

  1. Creation of computer software to register patients in the National Register of Vascular Operations, the aim of which is to increase the number of vascular operations
  2. Development of software with built-in division into roles for individual doctors with the possibility of assigning them to specific tasks
  3. Providing a tool to analyze the risk of recurrent vascular diseases among patients of given medical facilities
  4. Providing a tool for generating hospital statistics for the information needs of the Ministry of Health
  5. Building a tool that will collect data on patients with vascular diseases and estimate the real need for surgery of patients with vascular diseases
3

Customer challenges

Customer challenges
  1. Lack of a dedicated system for the patient data register
  2. Lack of a system that is able to audit doctors' activity based on the history of assigned medical tasks
  3. Lack of a digital platform that is able to ease the work of doctors by storing data about patients
  4. There is no reporting tool that meets the requirements of the Ministry of Health
  5. Need to create the first version of the system in 2 months
4

Our solutions used in the project

  1. Three-tier architecture for the system solution, which consists of:
    • presentation layers
    • business logic layers
    • data layers
  2. Creating communication between the presentation layer and business logic using REST API
  3. Creating an open API enabling integration with other DB systems, which allowed for:
    • managing identity and access to the application
    • encrypted user passwords are stored
  4. Creating the system based on SCRUM with the active participation of the client
  5. Creating an application that monitors the patient's health, in particular, the analysis of risks related to his health with the help of algorithms that predict the health of patients
  6. Algorithms used in the project took into account the diseases suffered by the patient and his lifestyle
  7. Creating a dedicated medical portal to which you can add new procedures by adding risk factors and adding new hospitalizations
  8. Algorithms predicted the risk of untoward health effects
5

Technologies and processes used in the project

  1. Application made in web technology available using the latest web browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Edge, Safari
  2. Access to the system via a domain/internet address
  3. Ensuring the system's compliance with the GDPR
  4. Adoption of mechanisms supporting and streamlining the coordination of health-related procedures
  5. Creating the system based on SCRUM with the active participation of the client
6

Project results

Project results
  1. We developed a dedicated IT system that enables the collection and management of patient data in an effective and efficient manner
  2. We have created a unique UX/UI project for the needs of the patient portal
  3. The system administrator can perform an audit of user activity based on the history of user sessions
  4. The system allows you to defend yourself against Brute Force Attacks
  5. Register has the ability to block specific accounts and protection against CSRF Attackss
  6. The system made it possible for doctors to view all the patient's hospitalizations with the possibility of adding more
  7. The system provides an analysis of the predicted health risks of patients based on their current health and lifestyle
  8. The system has an import model in line with the information needs of the Ministry of Health

Conclusion

Conclusion

The Independent Public Clinical Hospital No. 2 PUM in Szczecin, which, in agreement with the Polish Ministry of Health, runs the National Register of Vascular Operations, received a ready IT system according to the agreed time and project budget. This system is designed to serve potentially 200 vascular hospitals located throughout the country. The presented tool also showed that IT commandos are able to build solutions supporting the work of doctors. For Net PC, the social dimension of the portal was important because, thanks to our tool, we were able to support doctors in their daily work. We are happy to undertake new tasks in the area of building IT tools for healthcare.

IT commandos are reporting readiness for another action in the medical area!
